Mr Mertala has worked for Kansallis-Osake-Pankki, the Helsinki Chamber of Commerce, Ilmarinen Mutual Pension Insurance Company, and the Taxpayers’ Association of Finland. He has been an entrepreneur since 1995.

During his career, Mr Mertala has familiarised himself with entrepreneurship and business law and taxation. He has acted as the secretary of the legal and tax committee and auditing committee of the Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Helsinki Tax Board, and a member of both national and international associations of tax experts.
